My Dell
Support Center (DSC 3.2) is a user interface re-design of DSC 3.1 Dell Support
Center is re-designed to resemble the Windows 8 Metro tile aesthetics. My Dell
Support Center will be factory installed on new systems and existing Dell
Support Center 3.1 users will have an option to upgrade.
My Dell
Support Center offers the following Enhancements:
- New
enhanced User Interface.
- API
access for System Recovery and Backup.
- Search
option and Help on My Dell Support Center.
- Redesigned
user interface.
- A
provision for the Dell Software End User License Agreement to be read by
the customer at first use.
- Stage
tile has been removed.
- Windows
8 Launcher tile.
My Dell
Support Center will be factory installed on the system and the current DSC 3.1
users will have an option to upgrade to My Dell Support Center. This program
will ship on all Dell Consumer and Small Business systems, including both
direct and retail.
To
launch My Dell Support Center press the windows key on the keyboard and click My Dell Support Center.
My Dell Support Center home page provides information
about overall system health, Product Model, Service Tag, Express
Service Code and Warranty information.
The home page consists of five tabs which are
covered in the sections to come; it also has a Search box for easy access.
Notifications Tab: Provides information about the
overall health of the system and offers self-help options to resolve issues.
Checkup Tab: Offers diagnostics information,
tools and utilities to detect and fix system issues, this tab has the following
four sections:
Run PC
Checkup: This
section lets you run a Default Scan and Custom Scan to diagnose hardware
component on the system. Use Default Scan to run a complete test and Custom
Scan to test specific components.
System
Tools: This
tab provides easy access to common windows utilities.
Drive
Space Manager: This
tab provides a visual representation of the space consumed by each type of
file.
System
History: This
tab provides information on events and changes; you can click on the icons for
detailed information on the event.
Backup Tab: Has the following two options:
System
Recovery Media: Helps you create a backup of the
factory installed software.
Online
File Backup: Helps
you create a backup your personal files online.
System Info: Tab consists of the following
sections:
System
Summary: This
section contains information about the System Model, BIOS Version, Service Tag,
Express Service Code, Operating system and Hardware on the system, there is an
option to test the hardware components listed on this page, to test any
component click Perform Text link next to the component.
Operating
System: This
section provides information on the Operating System, Windows Experience Index
and Windows Update.
Security: This section contains information on
Windows Update, Firewall and Antivirus.
Motherboard: This section provides detailed
information about the Motherboard.
Processor: This section contains information on
processor speed and capabilities.
Memory: Contains detailed information on
installed memory and rated speed.
Batteries: Contains Battery type, capacity and
serial number.
Communications: Contains information on
Network Bluetooth and broadband.
Hard
Drives: Contains
information on Drive size and partition.
Optical
Drives: Contains
information on CD, DVD and Blue-Ray drives.
Video: Contains information on Video
card and connected monitors.
Audio: Contains information on sound card
and driver.
USB
Devices: Contains
information on the USB on the system and USB devices connected to the system.
Input
Devices: Contains
information on the input devices connected to the system.
Printers: Contains information on available
printers.
Service Contracts: Contains
information on the warranty and has a link to download a soft copy of the
service contracts.
Support Tab: Has the following sections:
Tools: Contains Owner’s Manual, FAQ, help
and more options.
Technical
Support: Contains
option to contact Technical support via Chat, Phone and Email also a link to
Dell Connect.
Customer
Support: Contains
options to contact Dell Customer Support via Email and Phone, the section also
has an option to take an online survey and an option to get Help and Advice for
the system.
